10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly
The writer of this Psalm was a king. He had many many great things. Women, land, money, whatever. It was his. In light of that fact, he writes this. One day as a doorkeeper (a servant, a non ruler, a slave) in the house of God is worth more than a 1,000 days anywhere else. Why? Because simply, God is good. He’s the source of life and a simultaneous protector. His worth outweighs whatever the world offers thousands of times over. The writer understood the weight of God and His Goodness by way of a promise. For us that promise has been fulfilled: Jesus Christ. Is a day in and with Jesus Christ worth a 1,000 days anywhere else for you?

This is my last semester at UH (by God’s grace). I want to end it well. For me that means more writing, reading, praying, serving, loving, giving…preaching…learning. Pray for me please. This blog is about to be much busier than it has been in a minute.
Most folk aren’t looking for the thing itself, but the satisfaction that thing brings. Example: people want money not because they like little green pieces of cloth-paper, but because of the perceived security, power, respect, happiness.
Another example: Most folk are looking for relationships. We all know that person who is ALWAYS with someone. The desire for love, security, pleasure, respect, identity, worth are the “things behind the thing” so to speak.
The amazing thing is Jesus is the upfront solution to whatever you are looking for. He, being God is your power, Him dying on a cross so that you and God can be cool makes Him your security and relationship. In Him you have pleasure. He’s your identity. Jesus can really be your everything. If this sounds cliche’, before you right me off, think about the thing you are chasing. Now think about how it’s failed. Give Jesus a try, and let me know how it goes.
I believe there is a constant reality we as Christians operate under.
Here it is:
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace8(a) which He lavished on us.
If you are a believer, meaning you realize you have lived a life independent of God’s concern for your life, notably by not accepting Christ as the one who can heal you from your sickness of sin , trusted in Him for life & submitted to His will for your life, this applies to you. This is a, pardon this is the reality. I haven’t been on my tumblr in a while, but I’m going to get back on. By the grace of God my next few… hundred blogs should be realizations of the Biblical reality presented in the passage above. Please follow, and give me feedback.
Was once solely concerned with loving myself through upkeep of my idol (image according to man’s approval). Growing more concerned with folk loving Jesus, and hating me in the process if need be by the grace of God.
I want my coworkers to know the Gospel so badly…been jacking me up today as I see the public symptoms of a unredeemed lives… pray for me as I pray for them and hopefully share the beasty message of Jesus sooner than later.
